After using the padlocks I came off the game and left it running in the background and that worked.

How do you look off the path ? I'm stuck at the same point

You have to look at the ground to find the batteries and tap on them to collect them. To do so, tilt your irl phone down to direct your light to where you want it to go

There are batteries on the floor as you walk. I suggest you pick them up as soon as you see them but wait until the power bar reaches one line before you swap it out using the circle arrow button below

You click on the rectangle pieces on the path and those’ll give you more battery and when your battery gets to one red then you click the reset button it’ll change battery’s in your flashlight.
