Children of Light are glowing sprites that you see scattered around the different kingdoms of sky -- which enable you to fly and gradually improves your capacity of flight (extended glide duration and higher level of flight). Apart from giving you the ability to fly, they also are sought after as a form of currency in the game's last chapter Eye of Eden.
