Character growth is integral in the game as you’ll need to build several characters from various factions in order to tackle some of the game’s harder challenges and modes. In our Level Up and Evolution guide, we will discuss the basics on how to evolve and limit break your main characters, and in turn, improve their overall combat capability.

One Punch Man - The Strongest is the mobile game adaptation of the popular shonen manga and anime series that centers around the titular One Punch Man. Players can’t play as Saitama himself but they’ll be able to recruit various heroes, villains, and more to form a powerful team they can use to clear the various game content.

Level Up

The fastest way for characters to earn EXP in the game is by using EXP items in the form of drinks. There are six different types, each providing a set amount of EXP per can or bottle. You can get some of these by clearing or sweeping stages but you can reliably farm these EXP items from the EXP (Daily) Challenge or purchase them directly from the Mall. To level up a character, you can just tap and hold the preferred EXP item until the character hits their soft (level) cap. The character won’t be able to level up further until they complete their Evolution requirement (this will be discussed further below).

The daily EXP Challenge is a great source of EXP items since it can scale to your team’s overall power. The challenge has four level categories (LV26, LV39, LV46, and LV56), with three difficulties each (Novice, Intermediate, and Advanced). The amount and quality of EXP items you’ll get will depend on the level category and difficulty you’ve tackled. Battles can also be skipped after finishing (not clearing) it for the first time. You have two chances by default to Skip (Sweep) a stage but you can get another free chance by watching an AD for 25-30 seconds.

Take note that you don’t have to clear a difficulty in order to get rewards; even if you lose, you’ll still earn the rewards intended for that difficulty/level. However, as long as you don’t clear that difficulty, you won’t be able to move forward with the higher levels and difficulty (and thus preventing you from getting better rewards). You’ll see your best progress on a difficulty as well so if you’re around 90%, that means your team is almost powerful enough to clear that stage.

Evolution

This process will allow you to increase the level cap and increase the character’s level further. Completing an evolution process also dramatically boosts the character’s stats so you’ll need to do this often on several characters so you’ll have a reliable, combat-efficient team that will help you clear various game content.

To evolve a character, you’ll need four materials: 1 qualification item and three specific medal types. A lot of characters have overlapping medals so make sure to check before evolving and see if you have enough materials for your other characters . Qualification items can be farmed from Heroic stages. If you have already cleared Heroic stages and obtained 3-stars on them, you can easily Sweep them to spend Stamina and receive your rewards instantly. Medals can be farmed from normal stages. Higher quality stamina will require access to later Normal and Heroic stages so make sure not to neglect your main quest progress.

If you don’t have enough Qualifications and medals, simply tap the incomplete item and you’ll be able to see various sources, including the limited ones. You can easily collect the required amount without changing screens, provided that you have enough stamina.
