How to get metals? I can't get metals

Craft a pickaxe. Brown-ish mounds of stone gives you 3 iron ores. When you get enough iron, you can craft iron pickaxes which you can use to mine rarer ores. Aside from that, copper ores are only looted from zombies (walkers) and aluminum materials are lootable in locations that has at least difficulty lvl 2.
