Strong Core
For this base, build a wall around your HQ and a few turrets. This is most players' favored layout early on in the game when you don't have enough wall to be able to channel enemy units or surround your whole base. The idea is that while the enemy is toiling trying to get into your center, the turrets will pick them off. Some players also position their base in the corner of the map, as in theory this means they cannot be attacked on two sides. However, this doesn't work in practise against experienced players, as you are able to drop troops in around the edge.Note: For this to work, you should level up your walls and the turrets within as soon as possible.
Diversionary
A good way to stop the enemy from earning a three-star victory (which is enabled when they destroy all of your structures), is to place some buildings on the extremities of the map. They will be expecting the third-star to unlock when they destroy your HQ, only to find that there are more buildings at the edge of the area! If you put resource structures out there it means you are unlikely to lose your entire stash. The downside to this is that the buildings on the edge are completely undefended, so if the enemy spots them first, you may be in trouble as they will need just one weak unit to take each one out.Note: You can use this in conjunction with other base layouts.
Channels
Instead of walls around your HQ, try to position your buildings so that there is a clear line to the center of the base. Place your turrets in such a way that most attackers will position their units in the same position, and then use that to construct walls that slow them down on their way through. You want to channel the enemy in a zigzag fashion so that your turrets have as long as possible attacking them.Multiple walls
Like with the Strong Core base, for this one you should aim to build two or three rows of Walls around your most important buildings. A good idea is to have the HQ surrounded by one wall, then your resource collectors, then a second wall, then your turrets, and finally a third wall. The benefit of this is that the turrets have more distance compared to the Strong Core base - they can only reach enemies right next to the HQ, whereas these turrets can attack anyone outside or in.Anti-Unit
This layout takes some practise to get just right. Basically, there are certain units in the game which will always attack a particular target. For instance, on the Rebel side, the Wookies will always go to the nearest turret. Once you have upgraded your turrets enough, they will be the only early-game unit capable of taking them on. So, you can use your turrets positioning to send the Wookies running around the map, keeping them away from the important buildings. Place lots of walls and unimportant buildings around your more important ones. Most units will just attack the nearest thing, meaning they will be wasting time in range of your turrets. We have questions and answers related to this topic which may also help you: Show all
