Upgrading Your Cards in The Forge

Upgrading Your Cards in The Forge
Defenders Guide

Added:

As the game progresses, you'll need to upgrade your cards in The Forge.

There are two ways to do this, by evolution or by fusing a number of cards into one selected card.

Let's deal with evolution first as that is the most simple.

Evolution

For a card to be upgraded by evolution you need two of the same card - eg two wooden towers. or some magical card which can represent any card.

To get to the evolution screen, select the forge, then the evolution tab, then basically you need to select the tower you want to evolve from your pack, then on the other side, select the second card (which must be the same as the first), then the game tells you how much silver it will cost, if you have enough silver you can proceed with the evolution ans collect your new card.

Evolution makes your card stronger, but also allows you to upgrade your card within battle. FOr example if you have placed it during a battle, select the placed tower that has been evolved ans you will see a x2 option for the same price of prime as an original tower costs.

Only tower cards can be evolved and they can be evolved twice, in which case in-game you will first get the x2 option, then after that the x4 option for the cost of two towers. This is a great alternative to placing lots of towers of the same type - which as you probably know get more and more expensive the more you place.

Fusion

Magic or tower cards can be upgraded by fusing them together. To fuse a card well however you need to make use of the third type of card which is an artifact which improves the fusion process and should make the fused card more powerful.

To get to the fusion page, go to The Forge, and the fuse option should be there in front of you. Select the card you want to upgrade then select a number of cards you want to use to improve it including at least one artifact card, then see how the fusion will turn out. Then click the ready button if you are happy with the fusion prediction, or change the cards and try a different option.

You really want to have a minimum of 20% efficiency, although try for 30% as a minimum if you can. Rarer cards will fuse better, but be careful you may not come across them very often!

Using Old Cards to Upgrade Cards with more Potential

You'll note the potential levels of all cards are marked - some can go up 5 levels, some 15, some 25 etc... At the start of the game you'll mostly have cards which are ok for the levels you are playing but soon become obsolete - eg The Wooden Tower is seldom used much past level 8 or 10.

You may want to recycle that card and others like it to fuse them into new cards that potentially could be a lot stronger (i.e. can go up to level 15 or 25). Try different forging combinations and see what works. Always use a strong artifact to help with the fusion process.
