Field Battle Strategy

One important element of the game is field battles, sooner or later you'll need to defend your base on go on the attack with your Alliance, or on your own! And to do this well you'll need some kind of field battle strategy, including an idea of what sort of units you'll need.

Field Battle Strategy

When I first started to play Warpath I had a collection of units, all about the same level,70, 80 etc... But was getting hammered on the field. The best strategy therefore is to focus on getting a single unit to level 120. This means completing a lot of research to unlock the ability to even get a unit to 120.

It also means playing through a lot of campaigns in order to get the upgrade materials you need to continually upgrade your chosen unit, and to give them the best parts and lots of modifications.

If you are finding it tough getting through campaigns, then you may need to pause the single unit strategy, and create a balanced team in order to get as far as you can in campaigns, see our campaigns guide for our recommendations.

You can always restore an units at a later date in order to claim back the resources used and plough them into a single unit later.

Choosing a Single Unit to take to Max Level

To be honest it doesn't really matter what unit you pick as your first unit to take to max level, as long as it is a tank unit. There are 5 main tank units, light, medium, heavy, super heavy and tank hunter.

The tank unit you choose to take to max level should be one that you have the most stars on, or potentially could have the most stars on.

You should place the unit in your highest level barracks, and focus on upgrading that barrack as much as you can.

You should also team the unit with the correct officers, usually of the same faction. See our Officers Guide for some tips.

There is a large difference between all of the tank classes, as you move from light to super heavy the speed will drop and the damage and armor will increase. The tank hunter class, is also a good option as it has good all round stats and can move about as fast as a medium tank.

The one you choose will also be based on what you want to do with the unit. The light tanks, while not the strongest will be the most nimble, being able to hit and run as opposed to stand and fight.

Probably the easiest option would be to take a heavy tank, or even super heavy, these would be best for defense and best against attacking another player's base, but not as good moving around the field. They would also be effective in large group battles.

Good luck in your choice, and once you have a single max level unit you'll notice that you will be a lot stronger in field fights, then it is a matter of working on your next one.
