Airport
More Warpath
The airport may seem to be a bit of a waste of resources to continually upgrade when there are more important buildings, but you do get rewards for certain level milestones that you reach. Also, a with any building, upgrades will increase your points and taken you closer to the next level.
The airport is where you dispatch your scout planes. These are important to clear the fog around your base and help you discover new buildings.
You can find radars which will clear a lot more of the surrounding area for you, you can also find a lot of buildings that will give you a small amount of resources, which does help a little especially early in the game for free to play gamers.
You can have up to 3 scout planes, the second is unlocked when your airport reaches level 4 and the third is unlocked when your airport reaches level 13.
As well as increasing the number of scout planes you have, upgrading the airport will increase the sight radius of your scout planes, increase their speed and increase your building power.
Scouting
Whenever you move to a new City, or when you first start the game, you'll need to send out planes to scout to remove the fog covering the map. As you increase the level of your airport you can unlock more scout planes and they will also travel faster.
A tip for better scouting is to locate on the map far away points that have already been cleared and send your plane there, on their return look for other spots as they are returning where the path will take the plane across some more fog, zig zagging to clear the map more efficiently.
As you continue to scout look out for in-game mail for radars, lighthouses and supplies. The supplies you get are small, but do all add up. And activating and found radars and lighthouses will help you clear the fog faster.
