What is the Mermaid's Pendant?

When checking out the different stores in Stardew Valley, you'll usually find stuff that relates to your farm such as seeds, animals, and more. You can also buy a bouquet which you can give to a bachelor or bachelorette if you want to become their boyfriend or girlfriend if you have 8 hearts ready.

Once you reach 10 hearts with your significant other, perhaps you will want to ask them to marry you. Do you need an engagement ring to propose? Well, in Stardew Valley, things are a little different. You need an item called the Mermaid's Pendant. You can show this to your boyfriend or girlfriend once you reach 10 hearts so you can propose and get married.

You might be wondering where you can purchase this item. You try to look at different shops in the game such as Pierre's, the Traveling Cart, and more, but you cannot find it. The Mermaid's Pendant is an elusive item for sale since you can only find it during specific conditions. First things first, you need to make sure that you fix the broken bridge at the beach for easy access. You can donate 300 pieces of wood to have this rebuilt.

How to get the Mermaid's Pendant

In order to get the Mermaid's Pendant, there are specific conditions that need to be acquired first. You need to have access to the east side of the beach which is why you need to have the bridge fixed by using 300 pieces of wood. Once that is ready, you can then check for the following:

  • Check your weather report for a Rainy Day: The Mermaid's Pendant can only be purchased from the Old Mariner, and he appears only on rainy days from 6 am to 7 pm. He can appear in winter if you use a rain totem, but he's not available during the Night Market event on the beach.
  • Head to the east side of the Beach and talk to the Old Mariner: Once you visit the east side of the beach on the given time and weather, the Old Mariner will stand on the upper right side. He can only sell you the Mermaid's Pendant if you have reached a 10-heart friendship level with a bachelor/bachelorette. Also, you need to have upgraded and completed your first farmhouse upgrade.
  • Purchase the Mermaid's Pendant for 5,000 g: If your requirements are met, the Old Mariner will sell the pendant for 5,000 g. He won't sell this item if you are married already to someone else, so you will need to get a divorce first. If you are already engaged but not yet married, you can still purchase another pendant given you have the right weather conditions.

Take note that the Mermaid's pendant is an item that cannot be sold. Also, having two mermaid's pendants doesn't mean you can propose to multiple people. You can only get married to one person at a time, so keep this in mind. You can keep spare mermaid's pendants in your inventory or a chest for future use if needed.

Once you give the Mermaid's pendant to your boyfriend or girlfriend, they will make the arrangements for your wedding. Soon, they'll be moving in with you on your farm, and you can eventually have children if you wish!

We hope this page has helped you in learning how to get the Mermaid's Pendant. We'll have more pages available regarding the game, so don't forget to check them out!
