How do you prepare to grow the best crops?

Year 1 for your farm is when you get to start out and test your farming capabilities. Here, you get to improve your different skills such as farming, foraging, fishing, and so on. Not only is your character the only one that improves, but you also get to unlock different crafting items that can help out with crops.

It's understandable if you want to grow the best crops as soon as possible, but you should also consider the things that you can use to make things better. Remember, when starting out, you will be provided with basic tools, and you won't have much money to begin with for purchasing a lot of seeds. Here's a list of things you can prepare on your first year in order to start making the most out of your crops:

  • Upgrade your tools: Tilling the soil and watering your seeds is going to be a common thing that you will do if you want to get the best crops. When starting out, your basic hoe and watering can can only prepare and water your soil one tile at a time. Upgrade your tools from Bronze, Silver, Gold, and eventually Iridium quality through the blacksmith to help things out.
  • Acquire sprinklers: Sprinklers will be available in your crafting list as you improve your skills. You can get regular sprinklers, quality sprinklers, and eventually iridium sprinklers which can water more seeds. This can help out your energy since they will water your crops each morning.
  • Get ready to craft fertilizer: If your goal is to make as much money as possible, you can learn to make fertilizers that can help speed up the growth of your crops, or perhaps increase their quality.
  • Save money to purchase more seeds for the following year: By saving up money, you can prepare to get seeds in advance that you can plant on your farm for the following year. This can maximize your profits.
  • Fix your Greenhouse: If you try to fix the community center in your first year, you can try to fix the greenhouse on your farm. This place can grow seeds at any season.

During your first year on your farm, you are welcome to grow any crops that you like in order to start making money. Perhaps you can have a decent patch of land to focus on crops, and perhaps have a barn to house your animals such as cows and pigs. Did you know that pigs can find truffles, which is a good item for making money? That's a good way for you to save in order to get some seeds.
