Craftable items you can wear (Clothing / Armor)

When you first see these items in the crafting menu, you may think that it would be a good idea to have these. They look like they would provide protection either from the weather or from enemy attacks. However, if you are short on resources, it may be best to stay clear from these wearables.

The Thatch set that is comprised of the Thatch Hat, Thatch Shirt, and Thatch Pants, may seem like (if you judge them based by their in-game tooltip) items that protect you from sunlight. However, there seems to be no game mechanic such as sunlight or sunburn. These items also do not provide protection from enemy attacks like reduced damage from attacks.

Similar to the Thatch set, there are also other pieces of clothing like the Cloth Cape and Tissue Hat. The Cloth Cape says that it offers the best protection in the heat. But like stated earlier, there is no game mechanic such as this that is implemented. The Tissue Hat’s tooltip doesn’t give a detailed explanation on what it supposedly does.

The next “set” is the Wooden set which is comprised of the Wooden Cape and the Wooden Pants. These two items both have tooltips that state that they protect from “bad weather”. Similar to the previous wearable items, there is no feature such as “bad weather”. Maybe in the future, a random event may be triggered that has various sea debris fly around and these items protect you from taking a lot of damage from the stray items.

Also, all items were tested if they serve any sort of damage reduction purpose. We tried taking hits with and without the items and the damage received showed no change meaning that they indeed didn’t have any effect on damage taken.

Chemical Table

One of the crafting stations, the chemical table in particular is one of the most asked questions on this site. In particular, people are asking about an item that seems to be either incredibly and impossibly rare or, more simply, it isn’t implemented yet. The item in question is the Mortar & Pestle.

We have tried scavenging to no end using the hook to get those barrels and crates that float, to visiting islands repeatedly to scavenge the containers found there. The “LootIslands” were also used and we spent over 2000 doubloons trying to see if the Mortar & Pestle items is one of the three random items you could obtain from them up to no avail.

Boat (Via Mast, Hull, Sail, Rudder)

The Boat / Ship (Most likely ship since there is already an item called “Boat”) is an item that seems craftable if you go by the crafting table’s craftable items. In particular, the Mast, Hull, Sail, Rudder. All of these items are parts of a ship. Upon crafting these items, you will find that no other crafting station or crafting recipe uses any of these parts.

Lightning Rod

The Lightning Rod is a structure that according to its tooltip, protects from random lightning during a storm. If you go ahead and build it you will find that it protects you from… nothing. Because the “storms” aren’t implemented yet. This would probably play a more vital role in the future if and when they implement a storm mechanic (probably what the “bad weather” other items pertain to). As of now, you can build one and put it on your raft to look like a lightning rod.

Radio Tower

One of the last items on the list and seems like it is a very important item since its tooltip says that you can send an SOS signal, hinting that it may be something to reach the end of the game or something similar. And it is also really hard to make since the materials for making electronics are really hard to come by and this thing needs 20 pieces of Electronics to make.

However, once you finally get all the items you need to craft the Radio Tower,

You will find that… you can’t place it anywhere on your raft.

Maybe it could be a height thing since signals are better sent from high altitudes so this silly tower was built to see if it could be placed on top:

Maybe it has to be placed on Metal Foundation so this thing was added to the top of the funky tower but still nothing.

We also travelled to multiple islands carrying the Radio Tower along just in case it could be placed on one of them but still none. So if you have the materials, craft it and maybe put it in some chest for future updates.
