Blade Idle Review – Nonstop hack and slash

Blade Idle is an RPG with gameplay elements that let you watch your character fight enemies and clear stages non-stop. As you play the game, you’ll be thrown into battle immediately, your character will keep on attacking and progressing stages, and it’s up to you in order to make your character stronger. Once you reach a stage that’s challenging to complete, you’ll need to find ways on how you can increase your strengths.

As you play through Bade Idle, you’ll notice that there isn’t any tutorial right provided to you. You’ll be going through the game’s different menus to explore the features, and you will notice that there’s a shop as well as some features that can be given after you watch some ads. The main goal is for you to become stronger in this game so that you can complete more stages as well as unlock more features, the shop is only available as a menu item while a special shop is unlocked at later levels, so you are urged to watch ads in order to get buffs that will help you in battle. The shop provides you with items that can help you speed up your character’s growth, but this is entirely optional for you. It’s still possible to play the game without spending, you’ll just need to be a little more patient with your growth progress.

In Blade Idle, your character will be attacking right from the start, and try to defeat hordes of enemies. Your role is to make your character stronger as they go on their attack spree. Your aim is for continuous growth for your character, and you do this by manually leveling them up, and increasing their stats. Providing them with good equipment is also one of the ways to help them move forward, and you can acquire better ones through the game’s Summon system where you can acquire weapons and armor.

There are missions you can complete in order to keep track of your progress, and you will need to clear later stages to unlock more of the game’s features. You’ll find that a lot of icons that you’ll press cannot be accessed at the beginning since you will need to reach a specific stage level. You’ll want to summon good equipment and upgrade those to boost your attack and defense.

The auto mode that’s added will let your character use skills on their own will. With the game’s idle nature, it’s easier to just leave this on. The stage progression is automatic, and you’ll move on to the next stage as long as you defeat your enemies within the time limit. If the stage fails, your current stage will be left on repeat, and you need to find ways to become stronger.

With the focus on character growth, you will be dependent on resources such as gold to increase your level, stats, and skills. The gems that you’ll be acquiring will be used for summoning Weapons and Armor, and later on you’ll be summoning Relics and Accessories. With later stages becoming stronger, you’ll want high grade items for your character.

Blade Idle doesn’t let you customize your character when starting, but this is one of your goals when playing since customization seems to be an incentive for you to play. Eventually, you’ll be able to upgrade your hero in order to provide them with new looks, and you can also customize your character with cute costumes from the shop. Even the weapon you use can be customized with costumes!

The map that your character is fighting in can become repetitive, as well as the hordes of monsters that you’ll be fighting along the way. Still, your character and enemies have nicely made models with vibrant colors. The attacks also have decent visual effects.

The game features a bit of voice work, you’ll definitely hear enemies getting hit often making some sounds. The weapons that hit your enemies have a nice sound effect as well. However, with all of the attacks going on, it might be hard for you to hear the background music which definitely should have an adventure feel to it.

Blade Idle is the type of game that you won’t rush in order to move forward. A lot of focus is placed on your character’s growth, therefore you will use a lot of resources to make them stronger such as gold, as well as the diamonds that you collect in order to summon more equipment. With the battles done automatically, and with you just focusing on growth, it might feel like you’re actually looking after your character kind of like a pet. Progression might slow very quickly unless you are able to excel in their growth, so if in you’re a rush to get to unlock everything until the endgame, consider the progression. However, if you enjoy idle games to check in every now and then, then this game is a fine way to spend some of your time.

Fun game. Gets you really engaged, and doesn't force (or dupe) you into watching ads!.
