Last Updated:

As a simulation and kingdom management game, Refantasia immediately throws a lot of stuff at you as soon as you start the game. It’s easy to get overwhelmed with this sudden information dump but don’t worry, the game’s pretty simple to start and additional features will be unlocked as you get the hang of the game’s basic mechanics. In our Beginner’s Guide, we will provide some newbie-friendly tips so that they can start enjoying the game earlier.

Refantasia: Charm and Conquer is a simulation and empire-building game where players take on the role of a Lord and attempt to forge their path in a fantasy medieval world. Choose your consorts, produce heirs/heiresses, forge alliances, and manage your kingdom and lead it to prosperity.

Time-based cooldowns

The game has several features that have active timers. For example, the resources you can collect from the Court each have 3-minute timers, Court decisions each have 30-minute timers, each Passion count in the Harem menu has 30-minute timers and so on. Since the game doesn’t have gameplay limiters like Stamina or Energy, players who can play the game in prolonged sessions (like those using emulators) will be rewarded by having the ability to collect more resources compared to other players who just log in occasionally.

Of course, we discourage any unhealthy amount of time spent on mobile gaming so whenever you log in, it’s a good idea to “claim” all resources or perform all attempts that will have a cooldown period. It will be challenging to track the first time around but as you spend more time in the game, you’ll eventually know which ones to prioritize.

Quests and Tasks

The game has a standard Daily Task checklist where you can collect rewards for completing each task individually. Each completed daily task also adds up to your total “Activeness” for the day. Depending on the amount of Activeness Points you have accumulated, you’ll also be able to collect rewards from the bonus chests. These chests can be opened after reaching 10, 30, 60, 90, 120, and 150 activeness points. Furthermore, upon opening a bonus activeness chest, you have the option to claim the default rewards instantly or watch a short ad to get bonus rewards.

Beginner Guide

Additionally, for beginner players, the game has bonus starter quests and objectives that will give new players access to great rewards, including new consorts and followers to get them started. Even if you don’t know yet if you’ll play the game in the long run, it’s worth doing these newbie tasks and quests early on.

Court Decisions

Part of your duty as a Lord is to make decisions about certain matters. You can access the Court option to view the pending matters that you have to resolve. The Court option is also the same window where you have to manually collect resources so checking out this option should be part of your normal routine. The number of decisions you can “store” will depend on your Royal (player) Level. Upon resolving a Decision item, one instance will be restored after 30 minutes. Alternatively, you can use a consumable item called a Council Order to instantly restore one Decision instance.

Beginner Guide

When resolving a Decision item, you’ll have a brief summary of the item that you have to resolve, as well as two options. Approving the request or going through with the suggested action will award you with the displayed resource. Denying or disapproving the suggestion will earn you some player EXP. There’s really no permanent impact on your decisions since some items will just re-occur after a while. When making a decision, you should mainly consider if you’ll benefit from the resource that will be awarded. Otherwise, go ahead and deny the motion to earn player EXP instead.

Resource Management

The three main resources you’ll need to manage in your realm are Coins, Food, and Soldiers. These are replenished automatically until they hit their collection limit. The automatic replenishment stops once the limit is reached so it’s a great idea to collect your resources regularly. The amount of resources you can collect and the maximum limit is also dictated by your Royal Level (player level). There’s a convenient “Quick Collect” button that will allow you to collect all available resources in one instance but that can only be unlocked after reaching a certain Royal Level or VIP level 1.

Combat (Journey)

Journey is the game’s campaign mode where you have to lead your soldiers and followers to expand your kingdom and conquer other territories. This is also one of the reliable ways of earning Player EXP that will help increase your Royal Level.

The soldiers in your realm are resources, and the more you have, the more you can afford in conquering other territories. For every round in a battle, you’ll lose a certain amount of soldiers. (Battles have multiple rounds) Your Martial Power rating will determine the amount of soldiers you’ll lose; the higher the martial power, the fewer casualties you’ll have for each round of the battle. You have the option to perform a Quick Battle or just do the normal battle. Combat occurs automatically without too much dependency on your input so this is one of the activities that you can do while killing time.

Beginner Guide

After reaching the chapter’s boss stage, your followers will step in to fight the stage boss. The boss has a fixed amount of HP and each of your followers will land an attack on the boss. Basically, the more followers you have with almost equal Might levels, the higher the chance you can defeat bosses and move forward.

Consorts and Heirs

As a lord, you have a Harem of consorts from different races. They’re different from your followers since they’re non-combatants and their main role is to produce heirs for you. As the harem’s owner, your job is to spend time with them, bestow gifts, and increase their intimacy to be able to give birth to heirs with better attributes.

Beginner Guide

Heirs grant bonuses to the overall Realm Power (your kingdom’s power) so you have to produce and train as many heirs as you can. The heirs produced by your consorts need to be trained in a separate section of the palace. There, you have to spend a resource called Focus which serves as the heirs’ EXP. Focus is replenished over time until their limit is reached. You can also rename your heirs! (get creative)

Heirs go through 4 different stages as their age (level) increases: Infant, Child, Teenager, and Adult. Once an heir reaches 18 years old, they’re considered adults and can be arranged to marry other players’ heirs of the opposite sex and with almost the same potential. Doing so will grant the heirs’ attribute bonuses to both parties’ realms.

Followers

Finally, we have followers. You can consider these characters as your lieutenants or ranked officers. Followers have a major role to play in Journey Boss Battles, Arena, World Boss, and other combat modes that require direct participation. Their individual stats have a direct effect on the Realm’s power. Each follower has the following attributes: Martial, Trade, Craft, and Charisma. Leveling up a follower will improve these attributes and in turn, your realm’s power as well. We will cover these in detail in a dedicated page within the guide.
