How to unlock card evolutions?

Card evolutions are a new feature added to Clash Royale in June 2023. Card evoltuions give evolved cards increased abilities making then stronger and basically more awesome!

To get a card evolved you'll need to collect six shards for that card then place the evolved card in the evolution slot in your deck which is usually the first slot.

Then, when you use the evolution card in a match, the first time you play it, the card will be normal, then the second time it will play as an evolved card.

You'll have to play the card another time, before you can play it as the evolved version again, and so on.

Currently there are 4 cards in Clash Royale that can be evolved, these are:

• Skeletons
• Royale Giant
• Firecracker
• Barbarians

The plan is that with each season, started with the July 2023 season, one card will be added to those that can be evolved. So if you are waiting for one in particular, then hang on to and wild evolution cards that you may want to allocate to your favourite card when it becomes available to be evolved.

The new abilities for each of the evolved cards are as follows:

Skeletons

Now four skeletons will appear instead of three when they are evolved. And now it's not so easy to just ignore them as with every hit they make new skeletons will join their gang! They are also stronger than regular skeletons.

Royale Giant

An evolved Royale Giant will do some nearby splash damage to any units that are close to it when it shoots it's canon. So it's not so easy now to send low power units to do a ton of quick damage to this card any more because this recoil damage will destroy weak units and do a fair amount of damage to others.

Firecracker

The evolution upgrade to the Firecracker basically makes her shoot one large firecracker which then does damage over time in the landing spot and also shoot off another four smaller firecrackers and when they land they also do some damage over time too. This makes her significantly more annoying and difficult to face. Make sure you are packing some arrows if you are against this one.

Barbarians

The evolution upgrade to the barbarians basically makes them faster and stronger with every hit that they land. You'll definitely want to destroy these guys as soon as you see then, a fireball always comes in handy for this.

More Evolution Cards

More evolution cards will be added over time, at a rate we expect to be one per season. We don't know yet the order that they will be released and what the powers will be for the new evolutions either.

If you have a favorite card, then try hanging on to your wild evolution shards so you have enough when your chosen card becomes available to be evolved.
