Unlocking higher level troops is really important if you want to be successful in battle in Whiteout Survival. Higher level troops bring significantly more strength to your army.

There is a massive different in troop attributes from when you start the game to when you finally unlock level 10 troops.

Level 10 troops are the highest in the game, and you can unlock the ability to train higher level troops by increasing the levels of your Infantry Camp, Marksman Camp and Lancer Camp.

As these levels increase, higher level troops will become available.

You should always train the highest level troop that you have unlocked, and also you can upgrade any lower level troops to the highest level you have unlocked.

To upgrade troops, select the category of troop you are interested in, select a lower level troop that you would like to upgrade to the highest level you have unlocked and click the up arrow, this will take you to the troop upgrade page and you'll find out the resource cost and time it takes for the troop upgrade.

Personally, I prefer the troop upgrade option and would rather have all of my troops at the highest level.

Other Ways to Make Troops Stronger

Apart from unlocking higher level infantry, marksmen and lancers via building upgrades you can also make your troops stronger just by having a stronger hero taking them into battle.

Make sure your hero has on the best gear that you have and is at the highest level you can get him/her as well as making sure there are no ascensions waiting before taking your troops into battle.
