How many hero shards do you need to fully ascend them?

I don't have an exact figure as I'm not there yet but it will be in the hundreds. With each ascension you'll need more and more shards to get to the next level.

This is why it is incredibly difficult to max out legendary characters as their shards are much harder to acquire.

If I were to guess, I say it would take about 500 shards to fully ascend - however it's just my guess!

the last star alone is at least 600 shards

700+240+90+30+ around another 10 so over 1000 shards

1075 shards need to upgrade hero from 1 star to 5 star

10 to get the hero, 10 to the 1st star, 40 to 2nd, 115 to the 3rd, 300 to the 4th, and 600 for the last star. 10+10+40+115+300+600=1,075 total shards to fully ascend a hero.
