Despite the tragic accident, there were a few survivors who were able to make it to a deserted island, which is where everything begins. One of the lucky main survivors of the story is a guy named John.

As soon as the game begins, John becomes the first playable character in the game. While there aren't much background stories yet for the group, their own personal history will soon emerge as soon as the player moves forward with the game.

Since John is the first to wake in the game, he is most of the time assumed to be the leader of the group. It might actually make sense since with John's physical built, searching the island with items might seem easier.

Aside from being the first to wake, John is also the first one to discover "Bob the Ghost". Bob is the island ghost that frequently shows up whenever Bob, and his group, make a huge plan. While the sign of a ghost may be disturbing, John, as well as the rest of the group, believe that understanding Bob's intention (or even his language) may be a huge help for John and his friends to get out of the island.

Soon after John's debut on the island, Tilly becomes the next individual to show up in the island. The minute you meet Tilly, she -- just like John-- immediately requires a short break. Also with Tilly's help comes the tutorial to coop quests in the game. These Coop Quests or tasks are requirements in each quest that requires a minimum of two players. For the Coop Quest to work effectively, both people must have high enough amount of friendship points.

While it may not be as quick, Lucio is the next character to join the gang in their mission to investigate the island in order to get out. Lucio will be found floating on the ocean screaming his heart out to get someone to help him. With Lucio's help and culinary talent, Lucio becomes the main man to trigger the Cooking feature and the Recipe book in the game.
