Creature of the Deep cheats and tips
Fishing
The game is easy to pick up and start playing and a tutorial will get you started on the basic fishing techniques. If you need more advice check our page on how to fish in Creatures of the deep.
It is worth practicing the techniques, and get used the the variety of timings for the nibbles and bites to recognize when is the best time to strike and reel in the catch.

Beyond that these are the things to look out for to help you play the game.
Look out for floating items
These items can range from trash items to collect (to sell), boxes containing coins, scrap wood that you need to build the structures in your home island and chests.
The chests give you an option to watch a video ad for a reward. This can give coins, or gems.
Collect all of these at your home island by tapping on them or while fishing at the destinations by sailing over them in the boat.
Make use of Equipment
As you level up you will be unlock bait and lures, and be able to buy better rods to use.
For the rod it is worth investing the best rod you can as it will last longer and give you a chance to catch bigger fish that are worth more money.
For the bait and lures, these are not generally needed for the common fish, but if you are out for a specific catch or want to give yourself the best chances for a rare catch then the bait can help here.
Quests
As you travel around you will meet varius NPC characters starting with Cap'n Slappy. Each of these can give you quests which will earn you coins or XP. You will also need to complete a short quest line to unlock the Monster fish of the area.
Coco Knows
Coco is your wise parrot on your shoulder dispensing fish facts and often useful remarks that can guide your fishing.
Look out for him commenting when you are in a good area, or telling you to be patient if you miss a catch which means there is a good chance to get something good if you are careful.
Clean the seas for Karma
You will often find or catch trash items as you fish. As well as a statement on the state of the oceans catching these will also let you earn money.
Although not as valuable as fish you can still sell them and for each item you sell you will earn 1 karma point. Increasing your Karma will benefit you be increasing your luck when fishing.
Note that if you choose to discard trash that you have collected by throwing it back then you will lose a karma point. Ending up with negative karma can hurt your chances.
When you collect and sell 50 trash items you will also earn a Luck item that you can use for a further temporary luck boost. You can also buy these with gems.
Fish Bestiary
The bestiary will document the fish and items you have caught and give some details on them. You can also take a look at the Game Guide for the destinations to see what you can catch and the times and suggested locations to go and look for them. Some fish and creatures are only active at certain times of the day / night. If you are not sure when or where to look the information will help you.

Hold Capacity
You start of being able to collect up to 5 items at once before returning to home to sell. As you level up and collect wood you will be able to build the boat yard and then to buy extra space.
The extra hold space costs gems to purchase. If you are getting the free gems then make sure to save them up for this purpose as the larger the hold limit the more money you can make in each trip.
Wood
Wood is hard to come by but is an important resource. Initially you will be able to collect 2 wood pieces each day at Home and 2 more in each destination you have access to. This limits how fast you can progress.
Try to make sure you collect all that you can each day.
Finally remember to take your time, this is a fishing game and like the real thing cannot be rushed. Enjoy the locations and seek out the rarest fish.
We hope these tips and advice have helped you get started playing Creatures of the deep. If you have any questions about the game please check out the Answers Page to ask there.
