When a Barracks is being upgraded, does it leave the shelter defenceless during this time? I'm faced with the 5-day wait for upgrading the Barracks to Level 4 for both the storyline achievement but also so I can have 4 fighters. Before I commit: will it leave my shelter open for attack and will I be able to deploy fighters ? I get the feeling this is one of those "pay to win" scenarios where if I don't want to lose my resources and be able to play then I'm encouraged to buy the cryptocoins or premium account.

No.. while upgrading it still work as usual. As long you put your fighter in it. It will still defenseable
