Vampire Survivors: How to Unlock Weapon Limit Break

By Paul | Jan 9th 2024

Vampire Survivors have a wide variety of base weapons that can be further enhanced through leveling them up or transforming them via weapon evolution or union. Weapons have a level cap by default but there's a relic that you can get that will allow you to get past this level limit and further enhance your weapons' stats during the same run. In this guide, we will discuss how to enable "limit break" in your weapons and turn your character into an untouchable killing machine.

Vampire Survivors: Unlocking Weapon Limit Break

As you may have guessed, you'll need to collect a specific relic to enable this feature. The relic is called the Great Gospel and can be obtained by defeating the final boss of the game's standard stages called The Ender. Kindly read the section below for more information and strategy for defeating this boss.

How to Obtain the Great Gospel

If you have the Forbidden Scrolls of Morbane that allows you to unlock the Secret menu, you can easily enter the spell (cheat code) "icanhearthecriesofcaptainplanet", minus the quotes.

First, you have to get the Yellow Sign first. This relic reveals all hidden secrets or objects in a stage. Now, the main objective is to survive for 30:00 minutes in a single run. This can be a bit troublesome in the first run since the blue reaper called The Drowner will appear in this stage. It will be very challenging to survive this stage while this enemy is active but thankfully, there's a way to permanently erase it from your current and succeeding runs. Please check out our Cappella Magna Stage Guide for a detailed strategy for taking out this enemy.

Of course, the stage boss called Trinacia which will spawn in the 25:00 minute timer in normal mode. At this point, all your weapons and passive items should be maxed out, and you have at least 2-3 evolved weapons as well. Survive until the 30:00 timer and the background will change and turn dark. After a few moments, you'll be facing The Ender.

How to Defeat The Ender

On top of having fully upgraded weapons and passive items, as long as you have passive healing (via purchased power-ups or having a fully upgraded Pummarola), Armor, and using a character with a good amount of HP, you'll have a very high chance of defeating this boss and surviving the encounter.

For starters, the Ender's HP is based on the player's level so the higher your level, the longer it will take to kill this boss. It is also resistant against debuffs, instant kills, freeze, and knockbacks. To make it worse, this boss also has a shield that absorbs damage for a short time. While attacking, the Ender will also attempt to close the distance to deal even massive damage if it touches you.

The Ender's attacks are quite predictable. Every set interval, it will launch scythe-like projectiles that you can easily avoid. Unfortunately, defensive weapons like Garlic or King's Bible can't seem to block or destroy these projectiles. However, having a fully upgraded Armor will definitely help. The main source of damage however is his straight beams of reapers, coffins, and other projectiles that deal continuous damage if you're caught in it. Once you see a red streak of light, that's where the pile of sprites will rush through so get out of the way. These streams of damaging sprites last a while so if you have a good amount of HP, you may want to quickly cross a single stream to get to a clear, safe location. The firing rate of the scythes and patterns of the streams will increase as you deal more damage to the Ender.

There are also destructible light sources lying around so you can try destroying them and hope that they drop Floor Chickens. If you have full HP, consider leaving these for now within reachable distance in case you need to trade off some HP to keep your distance from the Ender. If you find yourself in a position where you only have a small safe space, try not to move carelessly since your character's hit box doesn't extend to the head (this means you won't get damaged even if your head touches the stream, as shown below).

Once you've landed the finishing blow, the attacks will stop and the boss will immediately stop its attacks and the background will change, leaving the Great Gospel relic behind. Hurry up and pick it up to complete the stage. After defeating this boss and collecting the Great Gospel, you won't be able to face this boss again when repeating this stage.

To reveal hidden items and secrets, you must obtain the Yellow Sign relic. Please check out our Yellow Sign guide to know how to obtain this helpful relic.

When to Apply Limit Break

Once you have the Great Gospel relic in your inventory, you'll be able to toggle Limit Break by checking/unchecking the box in the stage selection screen. If you have it enabled, you have to max out all weapons and passive items in your inventory. From thereon, all new chests or level up rewards you'll get will allow you to further upgrade your weapons to increase their might, speed, area, and more.
