Save the game

There is an autosave feature in the game which is very handy and lets you return to the last save at any time. However it only has the last save available and that might have been when you were low on health or under attack. When you are healthy and in a safe location its a good idea to add in your own full save that you are happy to return to. Get in the habit of doing this from time to time to make sure you have a safe place to restart from.

Stone, Clay and Sand from rocks

There are 3 types of rocks found around the islands. Smooth grey ones and more jagged red looking ones both give you stone to use in your tools and buildings. Use a pickaxe to hit the rocks to break them down. The red one will also give clay. This is used for roof tiles. Finally there is a yellow sandstone rock that will give you only sand when you break it.
