Elite Guard Tower: how do you gather resources on the main map to build this? It requires a lot, and while I have it in various towns, it still says I need to get it.

You need to go to your individual towns, then to the stockpile, and for each item that you need there should be a little tower on them. Just click it and it should have a window pop up on the right that will allow you to send however many you need to the castle.
