How much ammunition do the Pirates have? I have spent two sea voyages (39 moves) fighting one ship - last voyage pirate ship was already down to 1 life and I'm still fighting it. I'm never going to get my Armament Collection this way. ( I'm on level 84)

You need to pass by the ship to damage it. Do this three times to turn it into a coin

They don't run out of ammo. You have to shoot them 3 times by moving through adjacent spaces. If you are able to move away after you pass by them, you may avoid getting shot, but it doesn't really matter.
