What is the fastest way to get vegetables?

What is the fastest way to get vegetables? I have been trying to maximize the amount of vegetables per game but I always get around 5 or 6 which is fine but there should be a faster way.

It really depends on what tools you have. I like to use several in a sequence (Manure, Rake etc). There is also a golden carrot you can randomly get from the portal.

I chop the trees into grass, use fertilizer, then the rake to get as much wheat/grain as possible, then make a long chain of them all.

NB the 'golden carrot' is for gathering ALL vegetables, similarly the golden herd icon.
