Goddess Era: Mage Tier List

Goddess Era by Happyfun Limited is an Idle-RPG where you can summon, collect, and create combat parties of alluring goddesses based on popular entities from popular folktales and fictional stories from various time periods of history. Of course, not all goddesses are on equal footing since they have their own roles, set of skills and talents which determine their viability in combat and their overall use.

In our tier list, we will cover which prominent goddesses you should aim to pull for, and which ones to build if you already have them in your party. We will be dividing this tier list into four parts so we can extensively cover the best characters per class/role. We’ll also narrow our list from SS to A so we can also focus on providing the necessary details about the featured characters’ kits. If you can’t see your favorite goddess included in the list, that doesn’t automatically make them bad. Of course you can still use them if you want since it is your game after all.

Disclaimer

Please be reminded that Tier Lists are not “definite” measures of the character’s strength and potential. There are a lot of factors to be considered like the characters’ availability, their synergy with your team, their utility, equipment, etc. As such, please use our tier lists as what they’re meant to be - a guide. Use tier lists to help you decide whether you’ll want to invest resources and time to build a character. At the end of the day, it’s you who will decide which ones you’ll use based on preference and performance .

Goddess Preview and Skills

You can access the Goddess Gallery where you’ll be able to view details about each Goddess in the game, even if you haven’t summoned them yet. You can refer to the goddess’ entries in the gallery to learn more about their individual abilities, the required upgrade materials to improve them, their available skins, and a preview of their maxed out stats to name a few.

S-grade characters have four skills though they’ll start with only their first skill unlocked. As you level up their tiers, their successive skills will be unlocked as well. For goddesses featured in our list, these skills are also heavily considered since they can affect the flow of battle and the goddesses’ individual performances.

Tier List Summary

We will be dividing our list into three tiers: SS, S, and A.

* SS units are usually considered broken and having them in your squad will drastically increase your quality of life in-game.

* S tier units are still exceptionally strong but not as broken as the SS units.

* Finally, A-tier units are strong and reliable in their own right. You’ll do well having them but they won’t have that significant of an impact compared to our S and SS tiers.

SS-tier Mages

Mages in the game specialize in dealing Magical Damage to enemies and applying various buffs and debuffs.

Hades

Class: Dark Mage

Role: Vanishment, Stun

Hades’ key gimmick is her ability to constantly apply [Vanishment]. This status effect inflicts damage (based on the caster’s ATK) per turn, in two turns. Furthermore, Vanishment is also stackable so expect any enemy facing her to constantly lose their HP passively, on top of taking damage from her normal attacks. On top of applying Vanishment, Hades can also reduce the magical damage resistance of her targets and if enough vanishment stacks have been applied, the target will get stunned as well. These annoying debuffs are enough to soften up even the toughest enemies, making Hades easily a top-tier character for us.

Gabriel

Class: Light Mage

Role: Seal, Wrath

Gabriel’s main strength is applying the Wrath status effect. This causes the afflicted unit to lose extra HP when receiving an attack for three turns. Furthermore, this status effect has three tiers; if the target already has Wrath and gets hit again by Gabriel’s skill, it will become True Wrath, and if hit for the third time, becomes Ultimate Wrath. The effect stays the same but the amount of extra HP lost per damage received is significantly higher.

Her other skill (Purify the World) has a guaranteed chance to stun enemies already affected by Ultimate Wrath. Her passive (Divinity) also gives this skill a chance to apply Holy Seal to targets, preventing the afflicted units from dealing Critical Hits while disabling their Passive skills as well. These stackable highly-disrupted effects makes Gabriel one of the best units for crowd control in almost all combat scenarios.

King Arthur

Class: Heroic Mage

Role: AoE, Frightened

King Arthur’s kit revolves around disruption and debuffs while dominating using her offensive prowess in the field. Her passive skill gives her a high Cirt boost if her HP is higher than 30% and if lower than 30%, she’ll gain an ATK boost instead. Her Excalibur: Domination skill has a chance to inflict the Frightened status and Light Suppression. Frightened prevents the afflicted unit from taking any action for two turns and will suffer higher incoming damage from the next attack. Light Suppression reduces the debuffed unit’s SPD. If enough Light Suppression stacks are applied to the target, it will become Confused instead. Additionally, Arthur gains a Defense Enchantment barrier that absorbs damage based on the portion of her skill damage for two turns.

Her other active skill deals damage to all enemies, dealing bonus damage against enemies afflicted with Frightened and Dictator Deterrence and chance to reduce the targets’ Crit for two turns. Dictator Deterrence is a condition that prevents the unit from taking any action until it is attacked once. The affected unit will receive damage based on the caster’s full ATK stat. The best of all? This status can’t be removed with other effects so the afflicted unit has no other choice but to take damage.

Gilgamesh

Class: Heroic Mage

Role: Forbidden, Frightened

Gilgamesh’s kit is a bane against enemy support units. Her passive reduces the Recovery stat of all enemies by half at the start of the battle and lasts for 4 turns. Her Stargazer skill also has a high chance to inflict a status effect that prevents a unit from getting Revived. If the target is a support unit, their Healing is also reduced for two turns.

Her other active skill has similar effects with King Arthur's and can also inflict the Frightened status and Light Suppression. Frightened prevents the afflicted unit from taking any action for two turns and will suffer higher incoming damage from the next attack. Light Suppression reduces the debuffed unit’s SPD. If enough Light Suppression stacks are applied to the target, it will become Confused instead.

Izanami

Class: Natural Mage

Role: AoE, Marked

Izanami specializes in consistent application of debilitating debuffs to her enemies. The main status ailment she applies is Natural Disorder, which reduces the target’s ATK for three turns and can be stacked up to ten times. Her passive allows her to apply two different effects to her enemies, depending on their HP level; goddesses with HP over 70% will receive more damage while those below the threshold have the chance to have their DEF reduced due to Armor Break. Finally, one of her active skills also reduces the recovery of her targets by half for three turns, reducing the amount of healing they’ll receive.
