The Heroes in Frozen city are very important to your development. Each one will offer boosts to your city buildings and also help you fight through the world map campaign to earn upgrade materials. Heroes will start to be introduced after the first city. As you move on to new cities they will become essential to your progress.

Heroes Guide

You can view the heroes that you have and any that you still need to collect by tapping on the Card icon in the bottom right. Some heroes are locked until you unclock their relevant buildings.

Buildings that need a hero assigned to them will show a blue symbol above them in the city.

Collecting Heroes

Heroes are recruited (collected) through opening chests. Initially the game will ensure that you get heroes you need early on with chests from rewards, just make sure to complete tasks to earn some chests this way. You will also find chests to open in the Shop.

You will have an opportunity to open a free Common chest every 8 hours, plus one more Common chest for watching an advert. To help speed up your hero recruitment you should take every opportunity to open these.

As well as these you can also buy chests with Diamonds or through purchases. If you are attempting free to play then open the free chests as often as possible and save up your diamonds to exclusively purchase the Rare or Golden Chests.

Heroes from these chests are random so you will need to rely on luck and patience to get heroes that you need.

Hero Types

Collect Types

There are 2 types for heroes, Rare (blue background) and Epic (purple background). This only seems to affect how easy they are to collect with the blue background (rare) heroes appearing more often as you need to get the Epic random cards to gain the purple heroes.

Management Type

Each hero will have a set management role in your cities. This determines the building that they can be assigned to and provide boosts for.

Factions

Heroes that you recruit will be part of 3 factions shown by the symbol on the top right.

Soldiers (Green),Scientists (Blue) andGangster (Red).

In combat you can gain bonuses if you use heroes of the same faction.

Class

They will each also have a set class. Shown by the symbol below the faction symbol. These are:

Shield - Tank

Fist - Damage

Health + - Support

Check the Combat details below for the importance of these.

Upgrading Heroes

Each hero will have levels. Increasing these will improve the heroes stats for combat and also unlock the ability to add more survivors to buildings that they manage. Upgrading is done with the Yellow Wishing Stars material. You can earn this through opening chests and through the 'Map' campaign mode. Make sure to enter the Map regularly to collect the wishing stars that accumulate over time.

Heroes also have level caps that can be raised by increasing the Star level. Initially the level cap is 10, as you increase the star level you will raise this by 10 each time.

Heroes Guide

To increase the level cap you need to collect hero duplicate cards and also the red Blazing Star materials. Both of these can be obtained by opening chests. The number of cards that you need to increase each star level will go up. To make the first star level increase requires 2 duplicates, the second requires 5 etc.

Hero Combat

Once you have unlocked the campaign option after the first city you will be able to set up a squad of heroes to take on increasing levels of enemies and earn rewards. The rewards you gain will be the yellow Wishing Stars to help you level up the heroes.

To set you squad you can select from any of your collected heroes. Their effectiveness in the battles will be determined by their levels which improve their stats and unlock skills. So in general you will want to choose the highest level heroes you have. However you can gain bonuses to your squads stats through making sure to select matching factions. You can see below the possible buffs from matching faction members.

Heroes Guide

It is also useful to use the correct mix and placement of classes in the squad. Placing Tank heroes at the front of the squad will help protect others and including damage and support heroes will also help. There is no exact best set up but you can try combinations depending on the heroes you have to find what works for you.

In each battle you can see at the top your current squad power (top left) as well as the enemy power (top right) to compare your lineup before you start.
