Last Updated:

Chrono Astraea is an idle gacha RPG where you collect legendary heroes and epic loot to strengthen them and allow you to tackle harder challenges and various game modes. In our Beginner Guide, we will provide some newbie-friendly tips to help new players get started in the game immediately.

If you have played other gacha idle RPG titles before, you should already be familiar with basic gameplay such as idle rewards, auto-combat, and of course, the gacha-based summoning or recruitment system. Chrono Astraea is no different; the familiar mechanics and features are there and your gameplay revolves around gathering resources to be able to summon more and better heroes to improve your team’s combat power. This can be done by farming for materials to level up your heroes, outfit them with powerful equipment, leveling up those equipment, and more. While the general concept of idle rpgs are very similar, it is still expected for them to have special takes or features to set their game apart from one another.

Beginner Guide

Here are some of the tips that we think beginners should know about the game.

1. Play through the tutorial and main story battles to unlock more features

This is pretty much a given whenever you start a new mobile game. Features are usually locked behind player progress. It’s quite easy to get most of the basic features unlocked early on so just play the game straight for around an hour or two and you should be able to get the hang of the gameplay. Take note however that some features are also tied to your account (player level). This is possibly to ensure that you’re ready for the new unlocked features or dungeons.

2. Don’t spend too much on the starter units.

You can spend some level up materials for your starter units or low-grade characters you get from your summoning attempts. However, it’s not worth investing in them a lot (unless you really like the character). Thankfully, there’s a Reset Hero option that you can access from the Arkenvale > Golgotha menu. Using this method will allow you to get back the materials used for leveling up that hero by paying a small amount of diamonds.

3. Don’t forget to get your idle rewards

As an idle game, you’ll earn resources even when you’re offline or not actively playing the game. Make sure to tap the treasure chest in the left-middle portion of the Campaign screen. Your idle treasure chest can only hold 12 hours worth of rewards so it’s a good idea to log in to the game and claim these rewards regularly. The amount of treasure collected will be displayed on the screen so it’s going to be easy to tell whether you have collected the resources already or not.

4. Collect your rewards

The game has Daily, Weekly, Achievement, and Mission Pass rewards. Daily and Weekly rewards can also award you with diamonds, gold, and other valuables. You can also collect Battle Coins for each completed Daily and Weekly quests, which will accumulate towards Battle Pass rewards. Consider including this to your daily gameplay routine to get the most out of these recurring rewards.

5. Evolve your heroes

You can evolve characters even when they’re not at max level cap. That means you can start evolving LV2 characters to LV3 and so on, so you can use them as fodder to evolve your main team. This can be significant early on, especially when your progress is getting hampered by stronger enemies.

6. Play the various game modes

The game has replayable dungeons or instances where you can farm for basic resources like Sunstones, Gold, evolution materials, Soulcrux, etc. The Oculus has three individual instances where you can farm said resources but each entry will cost Energy. One energy is recovered every 5 minutes and once your energy is full, you won’t get energy any further. That’s why it’s ideal to at least deplete your energy stock by tackling these instances. Don’t worry since Oculus stages have the “Sweep” function that allows you to instantly collect the rewards on a previously-cleared stage without fighting the enemies all over again.

7. You don’t have to spend to enjoy

With the massive number of published mobile games with in-app purchases, it’s very important to know that you can enjoy this game without spending anything. The game’s key content is not locked behind paywalls and the in-app purchases are entirely optional. If you’re just looking for a casual idle-rpg experience, you’ll definitely enjoy this game.

However, if you’re planning to seriously compete with other players in PvP, it’s an established fact that whoever spends and gets the best upgrades will have the edge. Nevertheless, if you have decided to spend in the game, please spend reasonably and responsibly.
