Hero Evolution
More Chrono Astrea
Chrono Astraea is an idle gacha RPG where you collect legendary heroes and epic loot to strengthen them and allow you to tackle harder challenges and various game modes. As you collect more heroes, managing them becomes a major task in ensuring that they’re combat-ready for the challenges ahead. In our Hero Evolution Guide, we will discuss details involving this process and learn why you should do this process as often as needed.

Evolution is the process of permanently increasing a character’s grade (star), increasing their hard level cap while also boosting all stats. In Chrono Astraea, you can evolve a character right from the start. This different mechanic is quite welcome since you normally have to max out at least the character’s level until they reach a cap or limit before you can evolve them in other games. Other similar mechanics require a lot more or harder-to-get resources, making them tedious and grindy.
To evolve a character in the game, you need gold and other heroes that you need to use as fodder. Take note that heroes used as fodder cannot be recovered so be careful when selecting a fodder especially when evolving at the higher ranks. As a good measure, always LOCK the characters you want to keep.
Here’s the overview of the evolution requirements and their respective level cap/skill cap increase. Gold is required for EVERY evolution level.
Important Notes:
* SSR heroes can be evolved up to 12*
* R and SR heroes can only be evolved to 8*
Evolution Level | Requirements | Level Cap | Skill Cap |
---|---|---|---|
2* to 3* | 2-star Hero x1 | 60 | NA |
3* to 4* | 3-star hero x2 | 80 | 4 |
4* to 5* | ANY SR Hero x1 (1: see more details below) | 100 | 5 |
5* to 6* | 5-star copy of the same hero. (2: see more details below) | 120 | 6 |
6* to 7* | Elemental Lapis + 5-star copy of the same hero. (3: more details below) | 140 | 7 |
7* to 8* | Any 7* hero + Elemental Lapis | 160 | 8 |
8* to 9* | Any 7* hero + Elemental Lapis | 180 | 9 |
9* to 10* | 5* copy of the same hero x2 + Elemental Lapis | 200 | 10 |
10* to 11* | 6* copy of the same hero x1 + Elemental Lapis | 220 | 11 |
11* to 12* | 6* copy of the same hero x2 + Elemental Lapis | 240 | 12 |
1: The “SR Hero” requirement pertains to a 4-star BLUE (SR grade) hero. That means even if you have a 4-star green hero, you can’t use them as fodder since green heroes are “R-grade”. To solve this, evolve an SR hero to 4* using any 3* R (green) heroes, then use that newly upgraded hero as fodder. You also have to make sure that the fodder hero is not LOCKED, otherwise, they won’t appear from the fodder selection screen. Also, take note that even if you’re trying to evolve a 4* R hero, you’ll still need a 4* SR (blue) hero.
2: This evolution step requires another copy. This is quite tricky with SSR (default 4-star) heroes since they have incredibly low appearance rates. So, reliable SR (blue) or even R heroes can even surpass or go toe-to-toe with them at this point. That’s why as much as possible, don’t use the copies of heroes you want to evolve eventually as fodder. If you’re lucky enough to get another copy of the SSR you already own, then don’t hesitate to use it as the evolution material.
3: Elemental Lapis needs to match the element of the hero you’re evolving. So fire heroes need Fire Lapis, light heroes need Light Lapis, water heroes need Water Lapis, and so on. Elemental Lapis can be farmed from the various elemental shrines in the Oculus.
