How do I find the eyes for the statue in the mysterious cave?

There are two "Spirits", essentially large men in Katchina masks, that you must defeat, each located in opposite corners of the cave. Each one, when defeated, has a couple of containers at his feet, including one chest that contains an eye. Beat both, claim the booty, & the eyes are yours.
