Kill Mr.Sunfish Often
As mean as this may seem, dying gives him resistance to those deaths later on in the game. For example, tapping madly on Mr.Sunfish kills him. You'd hate to run into this when you are having a good run and just doing it by accident (I know I did). Aside from resistance, unlocking the various types of death of Mr.Sunfish will give you a weight bonus that increases the weight you get from eating food.
Don’t buy MP
Tempting as it may seem, buying MP will greatly reduce the fun factor of the game. Effectively prematurely ending the experience. It isn't a long game so take your time and just play it.
Drag Rather than tap
You can drag your finger across the screen. Essentially when creating a "route" for Mr.Sunfish. It also goes through Mr.Sunfish in that it can select food behind him.
