How do you move on in sand city, how do you get the gold coins at the top of the screen?

You gain the coins simply by pursuing the game and completing the bonus levels that come up as well as the 3 boxes in a row game. You get more coins by accepting the x3 after those games by watching a video.
Though I wouldn’t recommend to put too much focus on the coins since I have about 2,5 millions of those and haven’t figured out how I can use them...
