RAID: Shadow Legends Guide
Starting out in Raid: Shadow Legends the first choice you will need to make is your starting Champion. This is the one that will get you on your way through the initial campaign stages and possibly be your most powerful warrior for some time to come so you may feel the need to make the best choice you can. It is certainly a question that we have seen asked many times. Which is the best starter to choose?
The four starting champions that you get to choose from are: Elthain, Kael, Galek and Athel. They are all 'Rare' level champions and as such are pretty handy on their own. They are all ranked in the Exceptional tier overall in the game (although not quite Top tier) and are very useful in the campaign. Lets have a look at some of their stats.
Elhain
Faction: High Elves (Telerians)
Rarity: Rare
Trait: Attack
- Keen Shot: Attacks 1 enemy and places another hit if she deals a critical strike.
- Lightning Arrow: Attacks 1 enemy then all enemies. If she kills the enemy, she will receive a 30% Increased Critical Rate buff for 3 turns.
- Valley Of Death: Attacks all the enemies 2 times.
- Aura: Increases Ally HP in all Battles by 15%
Kael
Faction: Dark Elves (The Corrupted)
Rarity: Rare
Trait: Attack
- Dark Bolt: Attacks 1 enemy with a chance to poison the enemy for 2 turns.
- Acid Rain: Attacks all enemies and whenever an enemy dies, Kael’s Turn Meter refills for 25%.
- Disintegrate: Attacks 4 enemies randomly, with a chance to poison the attacked enemies for 2 turns.
- Aura: Increases Ally HP in all Battles by 15%
Galek
Faction: Gaellen Pact – Orcs
Rarity: Rare
Trait: Attack
- Cross Slash: Attacks a single enemy twice.
- Hellraiser: Attacks all enemies and places a Speed buff on himself for 2 turns.
- Cursed Blade: Attacks 4 times randomly, with a chance to place a debuff on the enemy which decreases their Defense for 2 turns, with an additional chance of placing another debuff which decreases their Defense if the target has more than 2 debuffs.
- Aura: Increases Ally HP in all Battles by 15%
Athel
Faction: Sacred Order (Telerians)
Rarity: Rare
Trait: Attack
- Strike Down: Attacks 1 enemy 3 times with a chance to inflict a Weaken debuff on them for 2 turns.
- Higher Blessing: Buffs her own Attack and if her health is below 50%, then she will also gain a Defense buff and gain an extra Turn.
- Divine Blades: Attacks all the enemies (AoE).
- Aura: Increases Ally HP in all Battles by 15%
The above details will give you an idea of their strengths, and its good to note that they are all very useful champions to have with no bad choice to be made. From a pure damage point of view the strongest characters here are almost certainly Elain and Kael, with the former perhaps beating the latter. These are the 2 that might
serve you best initially. For a more all round choice you may consider Galek, also an attack champion but one whose skills focus more on debuffs which will become very useful as you build a team and allow you to take on more difficult opponents.
Remember that this is just your first choice. It is important as it may be the best champion you have for a while, but it will not be long before you are adding further champions to your line up and so you are not stuck relying on this throughout the game.
