They will spawn outside the nest every few hours: aphids – 6 hours, red ants – 24 hours

When you raid the aphid farm your pick up and carry the aphids back to your ant hill. While you are approaching your aunt Hill fire ants will attack from all directions periodically dwindling down your numbers if you don't defend them.
