Ghosts will be solid even when you face them. No other effects to my knowledge.

Darkness Effects: The make ghosts solid and they burst enemies bubble more faster; aka if a enemy has a shield around it darkness equipment does 2x damage to it 0 0 REPORT

Dark ring make ghosts attack even if you look at them. If you have not got dark ring they will become invincible and attack you only if you do not look at them ( Super Mario reference )
