Where do my compasses get stored and why can’t I see how many I have?

Once you have cleared all the plots of all released islands, accumulated compasses are stored in your game data stats but are not visible within the game. You can ask customer support through the "help" button in the game settings, and they can tell you how many you have accumulated.

Island 5 is coming very soon.
