Trying to update the game but it won't let me. It says update for coins, I click update, it takes me to another page but then it just says open and takes me back to the game where it says update for coins...??

When you click update it presumably takes you to the app store / play store page listing for the game. If you are not seeing an update option here then check in the store app under your app listing to see if there is an update available for the game. If you have auto update turned on the game may update for you soon anyway.
