With match 3 puzzles there is no tim limit and no bonus for completing quickly. You do have a limited number of moves though (you can buy more) and there are bonuses for completing the puzzle in fewer moves. So take your time and look for the best opportunities to reach the level goals.

Look for the best moves to achieve the goals

Always check in each level the goals that you needs to achieve to finish it. this maybe clearing and collecting pieces or removing hazards. You may need to cast spells to progress to a second stage. Focus on these tasks.

The game may give you hints on possible moves that can be useful if you are stuck, but the hints may not be the best move for you to make. There are often many opportunities to match 3 items and clear them or clear the hazards to make progress but making larger matches to create the boosters especially if you can create a combo with 2 boosters together may help you much more in the long run.

Make use of the magic creatures

As you progress you will unlock the use of magical creatures, these can give you advantages in each level that will improve your changes and let you complete levels quickly to earn more rewards. Try out each creature to find out its effects and see which one you prefer to play with.

Check the event objectives and earn extra rewards

Each day that you play check the Events screen to see daily objectives for you to complete to earn yourself extra gold or other useful items. These are usually simple to complete and you may have already earned the rewards but you need to collect them.

Join A Club

Clubs in Harry Potter Puzzles & Spells are a social feature that allows you to chat and make friends with other players from around the world. It also can earn you a lot of extra rewards though activity and events. In addition to this you can ask for extra lives when you need them and help others when they need more lives to keep playing. The benefits can be very useful to your game progress so when you get the opportunity to join a club (after you reach level 32) you should.
