Is there a purpose for the iron maiden cupboard in the room in the basement?

The only two uses I found that Torture device for is a Death Cut scene if you fail the 5th day AND you can use it to incapacitate Granny/Grandpa. I dropped an item right in the device, hid and waited for granny, once she was in there I hit the switch and it gave me the same prompt as if you shot her. I guess it can also be used for distraction, it seems Grandpa hears the device active and responds to it quicker than Granny.
