Any fish will eat your bait with a few exceptions. If you equip a minnow only 3 star or higher fish will strike. The crank bait will stop all fish from taking your bait for 9 seconds but any fish will eat it after. (unless minnow equipped) 5 star bait can only be eaten by 5 star fish. Using the minnow, crank bait, and a sinker combination is very effective for getting high tier fish.
