Gamer reviews for Ballz
Breakout reworked for the mobile age
Ballz is another one of those great, simple, pick up and play games from the prolific app game company, Ketchapp.
The idea of the game is that you aim balls into an ever descending wall of blocks with the idea to smash them before they arrive at the bottom of your screen.
Each block takes various number of hits before they are destroyed, this is indicated by the number of each block.
You can make this task a little easier by shooting your balls into other balls in the playing area and those balls will then be made available to you for the rest of the game.
The game is free to download and play, and is add supported although these are not really intrusive. You can opt for an ad-free option for $1.99.
From looking at the feedback from other games about this game, it is well loved by many, but for me, it just get's too difficult too quick and the endless nature gives that feeling of never being able to complete a level and always having to start from zero again. I would have preferred a level option.
Graphics and sound are basic and functional, it's the gameplay that really sells this game. The simple concept will appeal to many and would work well in a challenge situation with a group of friends.
We'll give this one 4 stars, there is nothing wrong with it, it's a nice simple game that many people will love to play.
