Can a team leader remove a player for any reason?

Yes.

Go to the My Team Tab where the list of all your team members is located. Double click on the name of the player you wish to remove and answer yes when it asks if you 0 0 REPORT

Go to the home page, hit the lightning bolt which takes you to the My Team/Chat/Search pages. Click on the My Team banner, it will bring up team info and offer you the opportunity to edit your profile or leave if you wish.
