How can I collect binoculars in Wordscapes?

Wordscapes is randomly bringing users into these events. Hopefully they brought you in by now, but it was months before they added me into the weekday tournaments (months later than some of my teammates, and I had to ask about the binoculars).

The Binoculars are from a mid-week event to collect Portraits (gold-rimmed profile images that you can pick from). When you collect binoculars, you earn 10 to open a present and collect some icons for that Collection. If you collect all three of the particular icon, you earn/unlock that icon, which you can then use (optionally) in your profile. It's a way to collect something different (in addition to the crowns). These mid-week events usually go from Tuesday night to Thursday night. So it's a 2-day break after the competitive weekend tournament.
