What is the purpose of the "friends list" on royal match game?

Example: When playing a special event such as Raising The Dragon, it makes it easier for your teammates to invite you to the 4 player team from their Friend’s List, instead of asking you in chat to join them. Accepting Royal Match in-game friend requests does not mean they can see you on any other social media sites.
