Rooms & Exits amusement park. How do I beat the score with the boxing bag? Lose more points than I can win

You have to time it right and press the punching bag when it’s within the green gauge to the right

It doesn't help, because it's not detailed enough. I punch when it's in the green but I'm still not scoring points.

You need to punch exactly when the right hand level hits the small green band. Then keep doing this

I am trying this for two days now and it will nor work at one point I had it up to 1100 and than it went back down. This is dumb
