Escape the Nightmare level 2: Can't figure out how to make the paste? I have the cup, shovel, and cloth..... Any help is appreciated!

You add the newspaper to the hearth and light a match. You get the matches in the tree puzzle by solving the zodiac puzzle

Need to use the newspaper in the fireplace and the matches to get ash. Then fill the cup with water from the container that has the bamboo plants. Then combine the ash, water and cloth.
