Paper Bride 5 - Chapter 4 - Threads Walkthrough

Paper Bride 5 Two Lifetimes is another in the popular series of Mystery Puzzle games from Heartbeat Plus. Inspired by Chinese Folk lore we follow 3 students who seem to be trapped in a world inhabited by ghosts of their pasts lives.

After following Tao Mengyan (Xiao Cui) through chapter 3 we saw how she was actually working together with Xun Yuanfeng and Zhong Ziyi during their adventure in Chapter 2. Now in Chapter 4 they have met up again but is everything as it seems.

After finding the secret passage below the stage you crawl through. You are playing as Tao Mengyan and you think you are with the others but when you reach the room at the end you are now alone and someone takes the ladder away, trapping you.

View the pile of rubble on the floor on the left. Something falls onto it.

Collect the Puppet Head, and then take the Plank of wood from the top of the pile.

Next tap again on the rubble to collect some Rocks.

Next tap on a small hole in the wall just above the pile of rubble. You will see into the next room.

After the scare use the plank on the hole and it will be pushed through, then use the rocks on the small statue until it falls down.

You will then collect the Key.

Look at the colored Soul banners hanging as well, these are a clue. Next view the abacus board on the floor. Collect the Ash from the lower left.

Abacus Puzzle

Now you need to set the beads on the abacus to the correct numbers.

• The clue says to use hexadecimal numbers.
• There are 3 colors of beads. Each with 2 sets of beads.
• The colors match the colors of the soul banners in the other room

Count the rings on the banners, you get: 7 Blue, 17 Red, 11 White

Then set the beads as shown here

Collect the Pinwheel.

Now use the key on the door to the right to open it. Go through.

First view the small table on the floor. Collect the Brush.

Next look at the pin board on the right to see some reports and paper clippings pinned up.

Notice that there are some characters drawn on the papers. Each one is colored to relate it to another printed character on the paper.

Now look on the desk below. There are 2 white books. Look through these for clues.

Then tap on the larger of the 2 drawers on the desk There is a puzzle

Desk Drawer Puzzle

• There are 9 button with symbols on them.
• You can move thee around and also rotate them by selecting one and tapping the arrow button bottom right.
• Use the clues above to positions these correctly.
• The clues are on the board above and in the books.

Solution:

Match the symbols to those drawn on the papers, rotate them to make them all the correct way up.

Then look in the left white book for a grid of 9 red characters. These will match the ones printed on the papers.

Use these positions to then move the buttons, with the relates symbols, to the matching positions.

Once done the drawer opens and you can collect a Hook.

Now view the shrine on the left of the room. Place the Puppet Head there.

Next use the brush on the head to paint on it. The head is taken, but now when you look in the room the headless puppet is gone and you can see a hole in the wall behind. Collect a Roof Ornament from the hole.

Back up to the previous room and view an Urn that is on the floor on the right.

Urn Puzzle

• Add the Roof ornament to the top to start.
• You can now tap the 4 rings to rotate them to complete the image on the front.
• Tapping each ring will also make the adjacent rings move.

Tap ring 2, 3, 4, 4, 1

Collect the Knife Coin

Go back through to the room with the shrine and view the desk again. Use the Knife coin on the smaller drawer to open it.

Collect a Seed.

After the conversation with Xun Yuanfeng back out to the first room and view the pile of rubble again.

Add the seed and the Ash to the rubble. A tree will grow with a Gourd hanging from it.

View the tree and collect the Gourd. Then also view the message on the side off the tree for a clue.

Go up the tree to the theatre room above. There are 2 shadow children figures by the doors.

Shadow Children Puzzle

• View the children puppets, they will each point in a direction.
• Then tap view the base of the child statue on the right. There are 4 direction buttons. Choose the correct button to press and 1 eye will light up green.
• Repeat this process to see the directions the children are pointing in to light up 4 eyes.
• If you make a mistake you start again
• The directions will vary

Solution:

Once done you will collect Joss Paper.

You can then add the pinwheel to the hands of the Girl. She will blow it and you will collect the red paper.

Go back down to the lower room. Ziyi is now here. After talking view the board on the floor with the abacus again. There is a small fire pit. Add the joss paper to it.

Ash flies up and makes some flowers grow on the tree branch. This is a clue.

Now go back up to the theater and view a poster on the wall on the right. This has colorful masks on it.

Mask Poster Puzzle

The colors on the masks resemble those on the flowers.

Arrange the masks to match the positions of the flowers on the branch.

Once done the tree burns and you can now see the stage area.

You cannot reach the stage itself for the fire, but you you can use the Hook to collect the stone Tablet on the right.

Back up, go down the tree and through to the second room with the shrine. View this and add the stone tablet to it. You can then collect Binoculars.

After another conversation and illusion go back up and view the stage again. Use the binoculars on the small stage to view it.

Give the Gourd to the small puppet on the right holding the sword. It will take the gourd and give you the Wooden Sword.

Now view the 2 shadow children again and give the sword to the boy. You can then collect the Chair.

Go back to the stage view and give the chair to the puppet on the right. (pointing down).

Tap then and they will turn to watch another play on an even smaller stage.

Use the binoculars to view this.

Collect the Wine Jug from the stage.

Back up and you can see that the poster has changed.

Go down again and use the wine jug on the base of the tree. This will start a fruit game

Pick the fruit

• You need tap on 6 fruit items on the tree as they grow and change.
• You must select them in the correct order.
• There is a 40 second time limit
• The clue for this is in one of the white books on the desk in the other room.

Solution:

You collect some Fruit. Then also take the Scissors from the tree.

Go back up and view the poster on the wall. It is missing a face.

Use the brush on the power and you will start a drawing game to make a smile.

Drawing a Smile

• The cursor will move around the box.
• Tap to color in red when the cursor is over the mouth outline.
• Avoid drawing any red outside of the outline.
• When enough red is filled in it will complete the mouth drawing.

Now back up and go to the second room below with the paints on the table.

Add the fruit to the black paint, then once it is mixed you can use the brush on it to dip it and get the Brush with black paint.

Next view the desk and open the white book on the right. Turn the pages to find a drawing of a bridge.

Use the red paper here and the scissors and you will cut out a shape resembling the bridge. Go back up to the poster and use the brush again to paint in an Eye.

Paint the Eye

Repeat the same drawing game but with an eye shape.

Once it is done return to the view of the stage. A play starts.

When the puppet stops at the stream, use the bridge paper to place it over he gap

Move it around and use the buttons to change the size until it fits in place.

The puppet moves on and reaches a mirror, then falls. Use the binoculars on the mirror to view it and then you will wake up in a hospital.

After the conversation you need to find 2 cards

Find the Cards

First view the small cabinet on the right below the window.

Use the scissors on the string on the drawer to open it. Then collect a card from inside.

Next tap on the window to look out. There is a card outside the bars.

Use the hook to collect it.

Next tap on the desk on the left to sit again and place the 2 cards on the pile on the desk.

Now you do an association test with the cards. Select any answer you want for this first test

You then return to the office the next day. Look out of the window again to see 2 people.

Use the binoculas to look down and you will see a scene that includes shapes from the association test.

Association Test

• Sit at the desk again and tap the Doctor to start the test again.
• In this case there are more answers and these include ones from the scene. You need to select the correct answers from the scene.
• If you make a mistake the process will repeat.

Solution:

You then get a final card with the answer Hammer. Choose this and you will collect a Hammer.

View the door with the lock on it. Then use the hammer to break it open.

You then need to answer some questions to gather your thoughts.

Solution:

Go though to meet Mingling (Tu Fusheng).

Follow the scene to complete the story.
