New York Mysteries 5: Power of Art Chapter 3 Walkthrough

This is a full walkthrough for Chapter 3 of New York Mysteries 5: Power of Art, another highly rated mystery puzzle game from Five-BN. Follow the adventure and try to discover all of the items and evidence you need to solve the mystery, with plenty of puzzles to keep you busy along the way.

Chapter 3 Full Walkthrough

You start at an old bridge near a house. There is a van with a driver fixing a wheel that you need to sneak past.

Collection Item: Cassette on the ground by the old crashed car.

Task - Get into the building

Under the bridge is a blue case and a coat, view this.

Collect a key from the coat pocket. Then tap to the right under the bride to move through to an abandoned village.

Collection Item: Cassette on some leaves on the bottom right.

Morphing Object: House number plaque on the building on the left.

Collect a Bell Clapper from the steps of the building on the left. Then view the small cart in the center of the scene with some broken glass panels.

Collect a glass cutter from it. Then tap on the green door of the building on the left and use the key to unlock it. Go inside.

Tap the green bag on the left to knock it over and then collect from it a Tube. Then tap on the green coat hanging on the wall to collect a Piece of Fabric. Tap on the bed to view another jacket with an old Iron on top.

Collect a Knob from behind the iron and some Tweezers from the pocket. Then add the Tube to the iron to open it and collect a Button.

Next view the small set of shelves above the bed. Collect another piece of fabric from a bowl on the lower shelf and then use the tweezers on the hedgehog on the top shelf to collect another button.

Now view the Lamp shade on the right. Add the 2 pieces of fabric to the cover the holes, this is now a clue. Note the colored fruits on the shade. Collect from the bottom of the shade a Clock hand that is hanging.

Now tap the cabinet on the left to open the doors and look inside.

On the right is a box with buttons view this as well and add the 2 buttons you have.

• Use the clue from the lamp shade to solve his puzzle.
• The buttons all have different fruits on them
• You need to tap 4 buttons

Solution:

Tap on Cherries, Grapes, Strawberries, Pear

A drawer opens and you can collect another clock hand. Now view a clock on the chair by the bed. Add the 2 clock hands to it.

Set the time to 9:30 and the clock front will open for you to collect another knob.

Now view the cupboard on the left again and add the 2 knobs to the drawer at the top.

You now need to tap the 4 knobs in the correct order.

Solution:

Collect from the open drawer an adjustable wrench. Now back outside, view a ladder that is fixed to the wall of the building on the right.

Use the wrench on this to release and collect the ladder. Now tap on the bell tower to view that building , then place the ladder on the wall.

You can now tap the top of the tower to view the Belfry. Collect a Detail from the handrail.

Back up to the first area and then view the blue case under the bridge again. Use the detail on the case to open it.

Collect a bandage. Then view the blue car.

Use the glass cutter on the window to open the door, this is now a hidden object scene.

Abandoned Car Hidden Object Scene

• The items to find are named at the bottom.
• You can move seats and windows in the car to find objects.
• Check behind or under items to find what you are looking for.
• Watch the video below for help

You will collect matches. Now return to the bell tower. Add the bell clapper to the bell and then the bandage, then tap it to tie it to the post.

Then use the matches on it to start it burning. When the bell rings the man at the car will be distracted and you can approach the vehicle.

First tap on the front of the van and open the door to find the key in the ignition. Take the key, and you can also read the note on the front seat.

Go tot he back door and use the key to unlock it. Now return to the front of the van and put the key back in the ignition. Then go back to the rear of the van and tap to enter it.

You will now watch the scene where you hide and are taken into the house.

You are then locked in a garage.

Collection Item: Billiard ball on the roof of the red van.

Morphing Object: Star/gear on the tires on the far left.

Tap on the blue cart in the center of the floor to view it. Tap the cloth on top to move it sand collect the paper with a Hint on it.

Now view the doors at the far side of the garage.

View the puzzle lock and add the Hint to it to start.

Garage Door Puzzle

• The hint has 3 symbols with numbers.
• The lock has the same 3 symbols on the left.
• There are 3 disks that you can rotate with hols to highlight symbols.
• Rotate the disks so that you highlight the number of symbols show on the hint. (5 of the first one, 3 of the second 1, 1 of the third one.

Solution:

Once done you can exit the garage and into the courtyard.

Collection item: Baseball Card on a box on the far left.

View the green trailer on the left. Move the cloth on the box and collect a blue handle.

Now back up into the garage and view he blue cart in the center again. Add the blue handle to the front to open a drawer.

Collect a screwdriver and a wire. Go back outside and view the drain on the left. Use the wire to collect a key from it.

Return to the garage and view the door of the green truck. Use the key to open it.

Collect a magnetic key card from the seat and then open the glove box to collect a Ball (1 of 3). Go back to the courtyard and then tap on the door to the small security office building on the left.

Use the key card to enter.

Collect a Magnet from under the console in the center, and then open the drawer on the left to find a Handle. Next view the console screen with the lock. Then tap to start a puzzle.

Security Alarm Puzzle

• Slide the 4 green squares around the grid
• They will move until they are stopped by another object / wall.
• You need to arrange them so that you can place 1 green square on the X in the center.
• Check the video below for help.

The alarm is now off.

On the right of the door to the building is a winch on the wall. View this. Then tap the red hook to connect it to the trailer.

Next tap the handle to the winch and tap it to move the trailer. You can now access the balcony on the top floor.

Use the screwdriver here to open the doors. Then enter the bedroom.

Collection Item: Baseball card on the table on the right.

View the fish tank and then use the magnet on the glass to collect an Engraved detail.

Then open the door and go out onto the landing.

Collection Item: Baseball Card on the floor to the left of the trolley.

Morphing Object: a symbol on the wall on the top right.

Collect the knife from the food trolley and then open the lid of the dish on the trolley to collect another Engraved Detail.

Back up to the bedroom. View the box at the end of the bed. Add the 2 engraved details to the circle to open a compartment. Collect some Slides and a Flower (1 of 3)

Then use the knife on the left side of the box to cut open the pocket and collect a Wooden Detail. Go through the door again to the landing and then tap on the archway on the left to move to a hall.

Collection item: Billiard Ball on the pot on the right.

Morphing Object: crescent shape hanging on the left of the chandelier.

Tap the handle on the wall by the curtain on the right to open the curtain. Then go through to the projection room.

Collect a flower (2 of 3) from the table by the projector and then add the slides to the projector.

Tap the button on the side of the projector to start a slide show and discover more details of the Black stone order.

Task - Tell Bishop what you've got

Go back to the bedroom and view the painting above the bed. Add the wooden detail to it at the bottom and you can collect a Hexagon tile and a Golden Element.

Exit to the landing and view the red box on the large chest.

Use the golden element here to open the box and find a puzzle.

Ornate Red Box Puzzle

• There are blocks with symbols on and a grid with some symbols in spaces.
• Slide the blocks around to match the symbols on the block to the space underneath it.
• Watch the video below for help.

Collect from the box a key and a ball (2 of 3). Go through the arch on the left again and view the pattern on the floor. Add the hexagon tile to start the puzzle.

Floor Puzzle

• Use the hexagons on the left and right to rotate the center disk.
• Use this center to move the colored blocks and assemble them into the complete symbols.

Collect a Lens and a ball. (3 of 3)

Back up to the landing and then view the door on the right side. Use the key to unlock it.

Enter the Office.

Collection item: Cassette on the desk on the far right.

Morphing Object: blotter on the desk on the right.

View the telephone on the right behind the desk.

Use the screwdriver on the cable box to open it. Collect a Miniature shield from inside (1 of 2).

You will then make a call to Bishop.

Task - Find Monsters

Now view the map on the wall with the magnifier, collect another miniature Shield. (2 of 2)

Back out of the office and go to the hall on the left again. Then view the table to the left of the balcony window.

Add the 2 miniature shields to the display case and it will open. Collect the Figurine.

You can also read a report on the table.

Go back to the office and view a model display on a low table on the left.

Add the figurine to it to start a puzzle scene.

Model Puzzle

• The model has 15 parts that are in the wring places.
• Swap these around to complete the model
• Watch the video below for help.

Collect the large Lens from the drawer that opens. Now view the map again and place the lens in the magnifier. You can then see a clue.

Now tap on the desk toy that is on the cabinet on the left of the room. Add the 3 balls to it.

You can now use the clue above to arrange the balls in the correct order.

Solution:

Collect a graphite pencil and an hourglass emblem. Now tap on the desk to see a book with a torn page. Tap it again to turn it to face you.

Now use the graphite pencil on it to reveal the hidden message.

Exit the office and go back to the hall. There is a table on the near left with an hourglass on it. Tap the hourglass to turn it over, then add the emblem to the top to open it and you can collect a Flower (3 of 3)

Back out to the landing and view a door on the left side of the stairs. It has an ornate decoration.

Add the 3 flowers to it, then open it to enter a Pantry.

Collect a red crowbar from the broken TV screen. Then tap to view a drawer, bottom left of the cabinet on the right.

Open the drawer and then collect the box of Jeweler's Tools. Then use the crowbar inside to remove the nails and collect the Gear.

Then tap on the bottom of the open drawers to lift it and find a Key.

Finally tap the silver cup on the right of the drawer to move it and find a Valve.

Now view a blue mop bucket on the right of the room. Collect a razor blade and a Pipe Wrench.

Next view a gas cylinder on the left wall.

Add the valve to the top of the cylinder on the right and tap it to turn off the gas.

Then use the pipe wrench on the black pipe on the left to disconnect it and collect the Drum for the music box.

Now view the metal vent on the top center of the scene to see a rope hanging out.

Use the razor blade to cut the rope and you will collect a Ballerina figurine. Next view the wooden box on the barrel on the left.

Add the Ballerina to the top to open it.

Place the jeweler's tools in the box, then use them to assemble the music box.

• Place the drum in the center, and then the metal comb on top.
• Tap the screws to place them and then use the small screwdriver to tighten them.
• Use the brush to clean the dust from the top section.
• Then use the tweezers to place the small cog on the top section.

The box opens and you can collect an Oiler.

Now view the door on the bottom right of the cabinet on the right.

The the key to open it.

Place the gear inside the mechanism and then use the Oiler to lubricate it.

You can now open the gates above and collect a garden spade.

Back out and return to the bedroom. Then view the large pot plant on the left.

Use the spade here to dig and collect an Amulet. Now return to the hall on the left.

View the telescope on the balcony, add the lens to it.

Look through to see a clue.

Now back up into the hall and view the large wooden panel in the center of the left wall.

View the puzzle in the center and use the clue to set the pattern.

Solution:

The panel opens and then you can place the amulet in a slot on the left. This reveals a secret elevator.

Collection Item: Baseball Card on the fire extinguisher top left.

View the small cardboard box on the left with the white tape. Use the knife to open it and collect a battery.

Then view the red panel in the floor. Use the screwdriver to open it and collect a handle.

Now tap the button on the right to activate the elevator. When it stops moving tap the exit on the left. You will end up Underground.

Collection Item: Cassette on the lower right.

Morphing Item: Round yellow warning sign on the left wall by the big door.

View the fork lift in the passage way. Lift the floor panel and add the battery there. Tap the 2 cables to connect them.

The tap the red lever on the left to raise the forks and lift the barrels. Look under the barrels and collect some bolt cutters.

Back up into the elevator and use the bolt cutters on the chain on the doors in the center.

Collect a detail. Go back underground and view the switch on the right of the big door.

Place the detail here to open the door.

Go through the door and watch the cut scene.

You are now back at Eugene's House and are playing as Howard and looking for the Varnish.

Task - Find the Special Varnish

Collection Item: Billiard Ball in the tree stump on the left.

View the barbecue pit on the left. Collect the Fire iron from it and then also a Pattern Part from the hole in the tree.

Now view the front door of the house and use the fire iron to pry away the boards blocking it.

Go inside to the kitchen.

Collection item: Billiard ball on a dome in the center.

Morphing Object: slingshot / spring on the floor near the radio on the right.

View the stove and collect some matches from the top. Then open the door on the front to collect Oil.

Then to the left of the stove are some large wooden beams that have fallen. View these.

Use the fire iron again here to move the beams and collect a bucket. Now view the radio on the floor on the right. Collect the cup of wax.

Go back outside and view the Barbecue again. Tap it to lift the grill and add some twigs.

You can then light it with the matches and add the cup of wax.

Collect another pattern part (2 of 3)

Now view the puddle on the right side of the front steps. Use the bucket on it to collect water.

Next tap on the post to the left of the front steps. There is a broken drain pipe.

Pour the bucket of water down the pipe and you will be able to collect a Stone tile. Now view the base of the broken stone statue.

Add the stone tile to start a puzzle.

Stone Statue Puzzle

• Use the top left and right arrows to move the blue selector around the semi circle.
• Tap the center stone circle to take and swap pairs of bottom halves of the images.
• Swap the bottom halves around to match the top halves.
• Check the video below for help .

Collect a Hint note and a Radio Receiver Knob. Go back into the kitchen and view the radio on the floor again. Add the Knob to it. Tap the knob to tune the radio.

Collect the pattern part (3 of 3) and the key. Now view the large box on the left of the room.

Add the 3 pattern parts to it to start a puzzle.

Number Flasks Puzzle

• Rotate the 4 flasks around using the button in the center.
• The bottom of flasks above others can be opened to drop numbered balls out and into the flask below.
• Arrange the numbered balls so that they add up to the totals shown by each flask.

Collect a Handle and some Tweezers. Now view the door to the basement on the right and use the key to unlock it. Go down to the basement.

Collection Item: baseball card on the floor on the right by the cupboard.

Morphing Object: sunglasses / pipe on a black and white cushion bottom center of the scene.

View the fire on the left by the stairs.

Add the handle and then use the oil to loosen it so that you can open the door.

Collect a corkscrew from inside. Then view the barred wine rack on the back wall.

Use the corkscrew to remove the cork from the bottle, then use the tweezers to collect the Hint note from inside.

Now tap the cupboard on the right to move it and find the safe.

View the safe and add the hints to it. If they don't fit well as they didn't on my screen then you may need to back up a bit and see the symbols properly.

Safe Code

• There are 7 symbols which you can use the code grids on the safe to get the letters for.
• The code spells out a 7 letter word.
• Select a letter position at the top and then rotate the dial to set it.
• Check the solution below

With the safe open collect the Varnish. You will now go back to Laura locked in the cage. Howard arrives to help.

Task - Bring Back the Monsters

First view the red box on the wall above the gantry on the top right of the room.

Add the handle to the door to open it and collect a hose. Then view control panel on the left of the room. Collect a small Button from it.

Back out into the underground passage and then tap at the far end on the right to move through to a dock area.

Collection Item: billiard ball on the red barrels on the right.

Morphing Object: Magnet / binoculars by the downed guard in the center.

Tap on the boat on the left, then collect another button from the back of it. Also collect the Canister.

On the steps on the right is a wrapped up painting view this.

Collect the crystal from the box and then use the knife to open the painting and collect it. Next tap on the office room at the top of the steps. Then view the case on the table inside.

Take the key and then add the 2 buttons to the case so that you can open it. Collect a fuse.

Now back up into the passage and view the red fuel tank on the right.

Open the top and then place the canister and the hose to collect Gasoline.

Go back to the dock and view the back of the boat again. Add the canister.

Open the lid to the boat fuel tank and then tap the canister to fill the boat. Now view the red panel on the right side of the water way gate.

Open the panel on the top right. Swap the dead fuse for the one you have to vif the panel. Then tap the switch on the left to turn on the power.

You can the tap the large lever on the red control box to open the gate. Go back to the room with the monsters in cages. View the red trolley in the center then add the painting to it.

Now view the control panel again and add the key to activate it.

Back to the painting and then add the varnish to it to open the portal and start the final cut scene.

Congratulations you have completed New York Mysteries 5: Power of Art.
