I am playing forgotten memento, while playing the part where I find the rifle and need to give it to the detective the game froze. When I was able to get back in, it showed the rifle in my inventory and it was still behind the dead officer. I am unable to continue, please help me on what to do?

My game froze at the same place. I fixed it (or it fixed itself) by clicking below and to the right of the detective.
