How do shields work. If you get shields Xs 20 how can you loose a shield if someone attacks your land..

You have a max shield depending on your level, so you may start on 3 or 4 shields, then as you progress, the max shields you can have increases.

When you get awarded say 20 shields, you'll then max your shields at whatever that number is... 3, 4, 5 etc... And the rest will be swapped for free dice throws.
