I never play games with the wifi turned on but have to with this one. I do not want to play with anyone..

I never play games with the wifi turned on but have to with this one. I do not want to play with anyone "out there". When I am told that a "friend" has given me a gift, is this a character in the game, or some real live person who has somehow connected to my game play? I have not hit the Connect button.

In the beginning, there is one game character, "Jack" who gives you a gift bush as a tutorial, teaching you how to gift. This only happens once. After that, any gift bushes you receive are from other players. The game will group you with a small group of similar players, so that you can continue to exchange and get game benefits when you dig up those bushes.

The random "friends" are not facebook friends! If you click on the boat below and to the left of the lighthouse, you will see a list of all of our pre-selected "JunesJourney Friends." Select one, travel to their island and gift them a bush. It usually costs less to do that than to swap out Help Wanted task when you get a "gift a bush" task.
